Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
